Music  Ministry

Church of the Immaculate Conception

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir at Immaculate Conception is a dedicated and welcoming group of singers who lead our parish in prayerful music throughout the liturgical year. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:15–9:00 PM beginning the first Thursday after Labor Day and continuing through Pentecost. They also gather on Sunday mornings from 8:15–8:50 AM in the church before singing at the 9:00 AM Mass. In addition to weekly liturgies, the choir provides music for major celebrations and special services, including Evening Prayer and other Liturgy of the Hours services, Way of the Cross, Confirmation, Holy Week, and parish-wide worship events. The ensemble draws from nearly 2,000 years of Catholic music, singing everything from chant and classical repertoire to modern sacred music. New members are always welcome—no prior experience required, just a love of music and a desire to serve.

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir invites children ages 7–12 to grow in their musical skills and experience the joy of singing for the Church. This group meets in the music room on Thursdays from 6:00–7:00 PM, starting the first Thursday in October and continuing through Pentecost or the last Thursday in May (whichever arrives first). The children sing at occasional Sunday Masses and at special liturgies throughout the year, including Christmas Eve, Easter, and other parish celebrations. The Youth Choir provides a supportive and fun environment where young singers learn musical basics, develop confidence, and discover how their voices can help lead our community in prayer.

Young Adult Music Ministry

The Young Adult Music Ministry is an emerging and growing part of our parish’s musical life. We currently have several young instrumentalists who contribute their talents at special liturgies during the year, and we hope to continue building this ministry. Young adults are warmly encouraged to join our Adult Choir or participate instrumentally, and if enough interest develops, we hope to form a dedicated Young Adult Choir in the future. This ministry is a wonderful way to share your musical gifts, meet others, and help support beautiful and prayerful worship at IC.

Cantors

Cantors serve an essential role in leading sung prayer at Mass and other liturgies. At Immaculate Conception, our cantors help guide the assembly’s singing, proclaim the Responsorial Psalm, lead hymns, and assist in ensuring that the liturgy is prayerful and participatory. Cantors rehearse individually with the music director and may serve with accompanists or independently depending on the liturgy. We welcome singers who are comfortable leading, open to training, and eager to use their gifts in service of the parish. Scheduling is flexible, and all are encouraged to inquire.

Instrumentalists

Our Instrumentalists Ministry is a developing and exciting part of the music program at Immaculate Conception. We are blessed with a growing number of musicians who share their gifts on a variety of instruments—piano, strings, winds, brass, guitar, and more—at special liturgies and parish celebrations throughout the year. Instrumentalists enhance the beauty of our worship, support congregational singing, and help bring depth and color to the liturgical music of the season. We are always looking to welcome new players, whether seasoned musicians or those returning to their instrument. Rehearsals and participation are flexible and coordinated individually with the music director. If you enjoy playing music and want to contribute your talents to the life of the parish, we would love to have you join this growing ministry.
