Altar Server

Tri-Parish Catholic Communities offers young Catholics an opportunity to grow in their faith and become more active in the Mass by volunteering as Altar Servers. Altar Servers are young people, both boys and girls, who assist the priest and deacon during Mass.

While assisting at the weekend Masses and other liturgical celebrations, it is important that altar servers be active participants in the liturgy, that they listen, sing and pray with the entire assembly. Altar Servers must be mature enough to handle this responsibility and must have received First Eucharist.

For more information on becoming an Altar Server,
please contact Tom Bigos who coordinates this ministry
at 518-878-1905 or bigostom@gmail.com

We had the privilege of installing 7 new altar servers over the past two weeks!  Thank you for serving your parish community with great joy.

Pope Francis
In August, 2015, Pope Francis held an audience with Altar Servers from around the World, below is an excerpt from an article on that event:

Serving at the altar, the pope told the young people, is a privileged way to draw closer to Jesus, which in turn "enables you to open yourselves to others, to journey together, to set demanding goals and to find the strength to achieve them."

"The closer you are to the altar," he told them, "the more you will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you will be nourished by the word and the body of the Lord, the better able you will be to go out to others, bringing them the gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm the joy you have received.
