The Anointing of the Sick
At our Tri-Parish Catholic Communities—serving Ballston Lake, Glenville, and Scotia, NY—the Anointing of the Sick is a sacred and deeply meaningful Catholic sacrament. This sacrament is offered to individuals experiencing serious illness, advanced age, or life-threatening conditions or nearing the end of life. People who deal with mental health issues and addictions can also be anointed. The sacrament can be repeated during the course of a person's illness.

In our local community, the Anointing of the Sick is more than just a sacrament—it is a sign of communal care, spiritual strength, and Christ’s healing presence. Administered by a Catholic priest or clergy member, the sacrament includes the anointing with blessed oil and prayers for healing, peace, and spiritual comfort.
This sacrament holds special importance in our Tri-Parish Community, fostering a sense of unity and compassionate support. The presence of parishioners through prayer vigils, pastoral care visits, and expressions of empathy underscores the church’s mission to care for both body and soul.

By participating in the Anointing of the Sick, our Tri-Parish Church community affirms its commitment to spiritual healing and pastoral outreach. This sacred ritual not only provides comfort to the sick but also strengthens the bonds of faith among all parish members. Please ask for the sacrament before going to surgery or during an illness. As a person reaches the end of life please contact our offices as soon as possible so that the person can receive Holy Communion and the Final Prayers of the Church. In the event of an emergency, please call the number(s) above.
